Ferdinand VII (1808-1833). 2 reales. 1811. Sevilla. JB. . 7,85 g. Interesting brass plate (33 mm x 29 mm) with a forger's trial. The obverse is dated 1811 and the reverse bears the Sevilla JB mintmark, a nonexistent combination. We suspect these could be proofs from different dies or, possibly, an invention of the forger. Ferdinand VII (1808-1833). 8 reales. 1830. Zacatecas. OV. (Cal-1305). . F7th under wreath countermark, authorized by the decree of October 2, 1832, applied to allow circulation in the Philippines between October 5, 1832 and December 20, 1834. Slightly cleaned. Encapsulated by NGC as VF Details, Cleaned, C/S: XF Standard. This is a rare combination of this Ferdinand VII stamp on an early issue of the Mexican Republic at the Zacatecas mint.
According to the records compiled by Stack's Bowers Galleries, there are only twelve known specimens with this type of stamp on pieces from that mint. This fact constitutes a notable exception to the norm, since in the Republican issues circulating in the Philippines during the same period it is more frequent to find the YII crowned countermark corresponding to Isabel II.
