Triangular amrs of Navarre
Philip IV (1621-1665). 4 cornados. Pamplona. (Cal-75 var.). (Ros-4.5.24 var.). Anv.: F I flanked by roundels. (PHILIP)VS : D : G : .... Rev.: Crowned triangular arms of Navarre flanked by two P-P surmounted by roundels. INSINI .... . 4,08 g. Very scarce. Some specialists in the minting of Navarra consider that these coins with a triangular shield belong to Felipe II. There is a 4 horned triangular shield with a 4 maravedís stamp from Granada from 1603, making it impossible to see a Philip III stamp on Philip IV coins, which would explain the classification error, as it is correct to attribute them to the reign of Philip II. Unlisted 1661 Granada
Philip IV (1621-1665). 16 maravedis. 1661. Granada. N. (Cal-340 var.). (Jarabo-Sanahuja-Unlisted). . 4,23 g. Very rare issue from the year 1661, the engraver carved the first three digits 166 and due to lack of space included the 1 between the first two floral endings. We rule out that it could be the low end of a 4, these have a base and the bust is type 1. Jarabo-Sanahuja (M230) mention a copy for this rare year but with a different distribution, for this reason we consider this copy unpublished. XF/Almost XF. Est...200,00.
