Extraordinary 18th-century royal document, issued on December 13, 1726, in Madrid, during the reign of Philip V, representing the official appointment of an Extraordinary Engineer to serve in the Kingdom's borders, fortresses, and armies. This document, written on verge paper characteristic of the period, stands out for its texture and durability. It includes detailed provisions regarding the assigned position, salary, and privileges inherent to this military role, offering a precise illustration of the administrative and military organization under the Bourbon monarchy in Spain.
The obverse is in excellent condition, featuring a text predominantly printed in period typography, complemented by handwritten annotations and signatures in clear and legible script. It is accompanied by the royal seal and the protocol formula "Yo el Rey" ("I, the King"), which, while likely not signed directly by Philip V, signifies the undeniable official nature of a document issued in his name.
This combination was typical of 18th-century official documents: the main body containing the legal or administrative provisions was printed, while specific details such as names, dates, and validations were added by hand. The reverse contains later administrative annotations that date and certify its registration and validity as an official document. There are minor tears and some folds, consistent with its age and use
