The latter appears to be from the end of the plate, suggesting that this was the reason it was discarded. The fragment shows minted specimens only on the obverse, with no matching struck marks on the reverse, nor any traces of them. Protruding protuberances can be seen on both sides, which appear to be grip marks, although their function is unknown since they are on the coin.
