Mintmark S below crosses of dots, flanking the crowned F on the obverse. Latin legends, with inverted “L” letters in the reverse legend. Very broad and slightly clipped flan, barely affecting the design.

Extremely rare type, highly sought after for having been struck exclusively for importation to and use in the New World, specifically Santo Domingo according to some authors.

This variety, unlisted in the standard references, has appeared very few times in the last 20 years; the most recent was auctioned by Daniel F. Sedwick in November 2023.

We are confident this specimen will attract the attention of collectors of this period
