Herakles, clad in a lion skin and wielding a club, emerges from the mouth of the underworld, with Cerberus chained at his side; Π or P to right. A figure on a platform is shaking hands with or receiving an object from another figure standing on the ground in front of it. Behind them, another figure is walking toward them, carrying an unknown object. Around them is a simplified linear border or wreath with a circular inscription that is difficult to interpret, of which "...VM?" can be partially read. 49 mm. Drilling attempt. Very rare. Herakles had to perform twelve labors at the behest of King Eurystheus, who imposed them as punishment and so that he could prove his courage and atone for having killed his wife and children in a moment of madness. The final task was to capture Cerberus, the ferocious three-headed dog that guarded the entrance to the underworld. Hercules managed to subdue him using only his strength and courage, and brought him before Eurystheus, thus demonstrating that he had also overcome this last and perilous challenge.. Almost F. VF.
