Augustus. Unit. 9-14 AD. Lugdunum. (Ric-I 233). (Bmcre-567). (Tesorillo-Augusto 54, Plate Coin). Anv.: (CAESAR AVGVSTVS DIVI F PATER PATRIAE), laureate head to right. Rev.: ROM ET AVG, front elevation of the Altar of Lugdunum, decorated with the corona civica between laurels, flanked by stylized male figures; to left and right, Victories on columns, facing one another. Ae. 7,75 g. Countermark "VAR" annexed within a rectangular cartouche on the obverse. This mark is associated with VARus, Publius Quintilius Varus, legacy in Germania, although other authors doubt this attribution. Very rare. Almost F. Est...50,00.
