Unpublished and offered at auction for the first time.</b> This piece holds the highest numismatic interest and may generate some controversy, as some authors might classify it as from Tortosa.<br><br> Catalan numismatography tends to attribute pieces with the letter “T” on the obverse to the city of Tortosa during the period when Henry IV was claimed as governor of Barcelona between December 1462 and April 1463. There is little actual basis for this hypothesis: first, there is no record that Don Henry minted anything there; second, the Aranda Ordinance prohibited the minting of coins after April 24, 1461, and Tortosa only became loyal to Henry at the beginning of 1463, when minting was already discontinued; and third, everything written on medieval coins is in Latin. Therefore, if they were from Tortosa, they should have been marked with the letter “D” instead of a “T,” as the Latin toponym for that city in Tarragona was “Dertosa,” which is why its inhabitants are still called Dertosenses today.
