Assayer B/R on the left, value IIII vertically to the right of the shield. Mintmark not visible due to a flan crack. On the reverse, the date is nearly complete, with the base of the 6 visible and the last two digits very clear, with the 4 rotated. Decorative dots adorn the angles of the cross and the lobed design, a style seen in Madrid half-escudos from 1639 to 1642. Much of the legend is visible, with all As lacking crossbars. The curved stroke on the obverse, next to the crack, indicates it is a rotated D, common in this issue. Previously mounted in a frame, but with minimal wear or signs of use as jewelry. This is an extraordinary opportunity to acquire a unique piece, setting a milestone in the study of Madrid mint half-escudos, as this date was previously unknown.
