Kingdom of Castille and Leon. Sancho IV (1284-1295). Meaja. Without mint mark. (Bautista-Unlisted). (Mozo-S4:7.1). Bi. 0,52 g. Rampant lion on the obverse, rosette below. Crown in the 1st quarter. Very rare.
Originally and with doubts, M. Mozo published these types as Sancho IV, Raúl Sánchez Rincón coming to the conclusion in his publication: Rare imitation of an Aquitanian coin in the San Adrián Tunnel (General Parzonería of Gipuzkoa and Álava), that it was the imitation of an "Obole au leopard", following the types of Edward III and made by the Bishop of Viviers, Aymar III de la voulte.
