HP below reverse wreath, P-8-E above, PLV-SVL-TR(A) and below E-52-P. this charming example offers boldly struck central design features with two clear dates, nearly complete pillars, full waves, bold nearly complete shield, clear mintmark, assayers letter and denomination and partials of the legends. The surfaces are somewhat granular with a small area of heavier corrosion due to prolonged saltwater immersion. A pleasing example of the type from this wreck. Recovered from the "La Capitana", sunk 26 October 1654 off Chanduy, Ecuador. Slabbed by PCGS as VF Details, Saltwater damage. Ex S.P. Rutherford Collection.
