Lot 750 | Celtiberian Coins

Lot description

Uncertain Punic mints. Unit. 140-90 a.C. Lebrija (Sevilla). (Abh-Unlisted). (MIB-Unlisted). (Acip-Unlisted). Anv.: Laureate female head on the right. Rev.: Horse galloping to the right, behind palm, below Punic legend (´mgs`n). Ae. 6,55 g. The specimen we present exhibits an artistry and style that distinguishes it from all other known examples of this series. Typically, these issues feature a rougher, more careless style of artwork; however, this specimen displays a female bust with highly refined artistry, an atypical hairstyle, and its reverse, while more similar to those already known, is also of improved quality. Recent studies attribute this minted to Naprisan. VF/Choice VF. Est...180,00.
