Lot 320 | Roman Imperial

Lot description

Gordian III. Denarius. 241-243 AD. Rome. (Ric-IV 113 var.). (Rsc-120 var.). (Tesorillo-Gordiano III 5, Plate Coin). Anv.: IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust to right. Rev.: LAETIA AVG N, Laetitia standing facing, head to left, holding wreath and anchor set on ground. Ag. 2,96 g. Interesting error by the engraver, who mistakenly or due to lack of space engraved the legend LAETIA instead of the original type LAETITIA. In the last 20 years, we have only found one similar example at auction. Very rare. VF/Almost VF. Est...120,00.
