Cilicia. Tarsus. Stater. 361-324 BC. Mazaios, satrap of Cilicia. (Tesorillo-Sat. Cilicia 4, Plate Coi). Anv.: Baaltars seated to left on throne, his head and torso facing, holding sceptre in left hand, right hand holding grape bunch on vine above Aramaic letter, and eagle; grain ear above arm, Aramaic letter below throne, B'LTRZ in Aramaic to right. Rev.: Lion to left, attacking bull to left; Aramaic legend 'MZDI' = Mazaios above, grain ear and symbol below. Ag. 10,82 g.  Similar dies to the specimens auctioned by Heritage 3067, lot 30191; Roma Numismatics E-Sale 105, lot 305. The latter indicated that it was possibly the second known specimen. A few specimens known. Obverse worn die. Extremely rare. VF/Almost XF. Est...500,00.
