Lot 406 - Spanish Monarchy

Lot description

Philip IV (1621-1665). 16 maravedis. Ae. 13,29 g. We present an irregularly shaped rail fragment (38 mm x 45 mm), showing two pieces that are neither vertically aligned nor cut out. The fragment shows minted specimens only on the obverse, with no matching struck marks on the reverse, nor any traces of them. Protruding protuberances can be seen on both sides, which appear to be grip marks, although their function is unknown since they are on the coin. Furthermore, its thickness is greater than that of other similar fragments, suggesting that it could be a forger's test. Very interesting. Choice F. Est...160,00.
