Philip II (1556-1598). 1/2 real. ND (1580-1582). Panama. oX. (Proctor-HR.2X). (Cal-134). Ag. 1,58 g. A/P to the left, with the extremely rare assayer oX placed to the right of the monogram and die variety with ornament below.

Full obverse crown and displaying lions and castles within the reverse cross. A well-struck specimen, clearly showing all elements, with a light cabinet patina. Broad flan with a faint double strike and a minor hairline on the reverse.

This is an exceptionally rare issue, one that is unlikely to reappear in the marketplace anytime soon. We have located only one other example, illustrated in Jorge Proctor’s The Forgotten Mint of Colonial Panama.

A highly significant coin that will undoubtedly attract the attention of advanced collectors of this period. Certified by NGC as XF Details, Saltwater Damage
