This appears to be a contemporary counterfeit 1/2 Real from Seville, although a study by Santiago M. Medina (2022) suggests that these types of coins were actually maravedís minted for circulation in the Canary Islands.

This particular specimen differs from those cataloged in that study. Undoubtedly, it is the finest example we have ever seen and likely the best condition example known. Very rare
