This was the year with the lowest gold production of the entire reign of Isabel II, with only 61 kg minted. No gold coinage was issued the following year.
In 1851 and 1852, the mintage of 100 reales coins was merely symbolic, with just 6,790 and 7,369 pieces struck, respectively. In contrast, over 102,000 gold coins of 100 reales (doblón) were minted in 1851, and the figure rose to more than 230,000 in 1854
