Septimius Severus. Fourée Denarius. 202-210 AD. Rome. (Ric-Unlisted). (Bmcre-Unlisted). (Tesorillo-Sep. Severo 12, Plate Coin). Anv.: SEVERVS PIVS AVG. Laureate head to right. Rev.: MATER DEVM. A highly interesting example with the reverse bearing the legend MATER DEVM, issued exclusively by Julia Domna (Ric-564), although its representation does not coincide with Cybele; in this case, Fortuna is shown in her usual form, holding a cornucopia, a wand on a rudder and a wheel under the throne. This type of reverse with Septimius Severus is reserved for a few examples, but with a different legend (Ric-264a FORTVNA REDVX and 189b P M TR P XI COS III P P). Apparently unpublished.
