Luis I - Pop One!!

Luis I (1724). 4 reales. 1725. Lima. M. (Cal-Unlisted). (Bustos-L4R/25). Ag. 12,97 g. With flat peripheries, yet the mintmark, assayer, and denomination remain very clear. The king’s name is not visible, but it can be confidently attributed to Louis I, as 1725 is the year of issue for the Lima mint. We have not seen any other specimen of this date; even Alejandro M. Bustos, in his work Amonedación de Luis Fernando I, lists it as one of the three known types represented not by an original specimen but by an illustrative drawing. Extremely rare with only three known examples, all in private hands. Slabbed by NGC as F 15 (Pop One), the only certified in the NGC and PCGS census. Est...900,00.
